don't panic...
I think this sweet saying might just have saved my day/week. I've been feeling so stressed out lately, but somehow, reading this, it all makes sense. Thank you so much, Weekday Carnival.

Hello Mowbray!
Some of the surveys that I sent out yesterday afternoon; if you live in Mowbray, you just might have found one in your letter box!

Archived lives
I've been doing a lot of research in to the history of Mowbray (a small suburb of Cape Town, where I live). I spent a morning at the National Archives last week and as I was paging through files and files of photos of Mowbray and old Cape Town, I came across these portraits. There were no captions, except for their names, but apart from that, I don't know the dates or anything else. I'm guessing they are pretty old though, maybe from the 1800's or early 1900's?
I just think these are really special.

mowbray dark
Some photos of my neighbourhood that I've been gathering for my research project. I took these quite a few weeks ago, on a public holiday Wednesday, so the streets were pretty deserted. Not sure why I made them so grainy though!

and the work keeps on coming...
These books weigh more than a small child and have about 100 000 pages between them. I need to read through all of them before the weekend. So right now, I'm feeling slightly terrified...

"love what you do"
Something to keep in mind, especially when I come to deciding on my research topic for my BTech course. We have to choose one topic to research for the whole year... so far I'm feeling a little lost and undecided.
