No Kak in our Coffee - print elements
Now that the Sustainable Design Showcase is over, I think it should be safe to publish this! These are part of the final submission that Lisa and I sent through to the competition. These are the printed items, but we also designed a website and created an informative stop-motion animated video.

StudioPod visual identity
An exciting brief for the first project of my BTech course. Our class was approached by the client, who designs modular housing units that have been made from reclaimed shipping containers.
The client was looking for a new target audience and visual direction, so I came up with this concept.
Due to their interesting design, clever use of materials, modern finishes and clean simple spaces, these modular units would make great work-spaces. Combine this with the fact that the Modupod can be built practically anywhere and leaves hardly any impact or scarring on the land, and you have the perfect solution for an outdoor office, studio or exhibition space.
A modular unit (or cluster of units) will be set up within the forest and marketed as “creative space for rent". Rentals will only be on a short-term basis, allowing more individuals to experience this unique concept. This would be perfect for people who are in-between leases and are looking for a new but temporary location, or those who simply need a fresh perspective and a break from the city.

ahoy there
Hello, let me introduce you to a new friend of mine -
his name is Mr Glenryck, or Sailor Glen, as he prefers to be named.
Sailor Glen is about to become the new face of a brand of tasty pilchards.
Sailor Glen is about to become the new face of a brand of tasty pilchards.
Makes a lot of sense doesn't it...
I promise to explain further very soon -
sometime after Friday to be more exact.

long time no blog, so here's a nice long post
_______________
I have really been neglecting this blog lately, just because so much has been going on.
The Sappi project is over at last, but things have been still been pretty chaotic. But i mean that in a great way, good chaos!
i moved into a much smaller room, so had a big decluttering, dejunking, proper and much-needed clearout. Then it was time to submit our portfolios for midyear assessment at tech, then it was the start of a three week holiday, but it wasn't really a holiday because of all the assignments we were given.
I have also been spending time at one of the country's best advertising agencies, The Jupiter Drawing Room, for the past week and a half, as part of our industry placement project. I've really been enjoying it there and will be a little sad to leave. It's a very inspiring place, filled with great people. Everyone I've met so far has been nice to me and I''ve been able to work on some great projects. Their in-house illustrator is away on holiday, so I've been filling in for him. I'm really in my element there, because it means that all i have to do is draw all day! I've also been working with a copywriting intern on another project, which we will be showing to the client later this week, so I think I've really gained some very valuable experience.
We have to write a comparative report, comparing two different studios, agencies or designers, so next week I will be visiting a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, whose work i have admired for quite some time, so I'm very excited about that as well!
We also have to write an article and take some photographs for a design magazine of our choice, and then design the layout, write the copy and take the photos in the style of that magazine. This needs to be nearly done by the time we go back to tech in two Monday's time. I'm going to go with It's Nice That or Creative Review, but haven't fully decided yet.
Phew! With so much going on, I think I should take up smoking to curb the stress.
No no, only joking!

CPUT Exhibition
It's almost time for the annual exhibition that takes place every year at my place of study, CPUT... this is very exciting, because it means that Skeleton Boy and I will finally get to see our campaign up and running! I will be sure to post some more pictures as soon as I get them, but for now you can see the mini movie invite that we made for the opening night.

come see these postcards

Soon it will be time to start working on our end of year exhibition/campus campaign. This is very exciting - even though it's going to be a huge amount of work - we have to photograph all the 3rd and 4th years, which is apparently about 500 students!! but I'm excited, this a big honour for me and Stu and will be a great portfolio piece too.
Above are some of the postcards that went with the poster series in our original proposal
